µ-XRF laboratory
The µ-XRF laboratory contains the XGT-7000V X-ray fluorescence (XRF) microscope, which combines optical visualisation with elemental analysis and imaging. The qualitative and semi-quantitative characterisation of solids, liquids and powders is combined with microscopic analysis, so that individual particles and features can be analysed and element distribution images can be generated.
This technique is especially suited to archaeological materials, as sample preparation is not necessary and the analysis is fast and non-destructive.
