Vulnerability Studies

Vulnerability: A Research Method for Literary and Cultural Studies

This AHRC-funded project maps a body of contemporary literary and cultural responses to cross-border vulnerabilities in North America, focusing on intersecting crises of gender and race-based vulnerability, such as femicide and violence against Indigenous people. The aim of the project is to develop a usable model for ‘vulnerable reading’, drawing on an interdisciplinary engagement with the term ‘vulnerability.’

As well as developing vulnerable reading, in 2023 the project will also involve the development of a vulnerability toolkit, the production of teaching resources relating to Black and Indigenous literatures, and the development of a MOOC.

For more information about the project, feel free to contact Dr Zalfa Feghali (zf31@le.ac.uk).
