Centre for Urban history

Visiting Scholar Scheme

The Centre for Urban History at the University of Leicester operates a Visiting Scholar Scheme. Periods of 1-12 months' residency are available. The Centre provides access to library resources, specialist collections, seminars and other University facilities.

The Centre for Urban History is located in the Marc Fitch Historical Institute which it shares with the Centre for Regional and Local History, the East Midlands Oral History Archive (EMOHA), and doctoral students from the School of History. Leicester is 70 minutes from central London and there are six county record offices within one hour.

Kathrin Meissner, Mayer Ágnes Zsófia and Estefania Calo García have each written a few lines about their time at the Centre, which provide an insight into the experience of being a visiting scholar.

Further enquiries can be made, in the first instance, to Professor Simon Gunn, Director of the Centre.
