The United Kingdom Aneurysm Growth Study (UKAGS) is a comprehensive clinical and laboratory study of the growth of small abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA), funded by a grant from the British Heart Foundation. The Study started in October 2013 and through this study more detailed information about why and how aneurysms occur and grow will be found out, potentially leading to alternative ways to care for patients with AAA or even drug treatments for small aneurysms - and avoiding the need for surgery in those with AAA.
Recruitment to the study will take place over five years and will involve up to 20,000 participants.
To find more information about AAA, please visit the NHS Choices AAA Screening Programme website, British Heart Foundation website or the NHS Screening Programme Information website.
If you have any concerns or questions about the Study you are most welcome to contact us.
