Jenna Shaw

Interim Head and Programme Lead for Nursing
I am a registered Paediatric Nurse and Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting), with a non-medical prescriber qualification. I have worked clinically in Birmingham and Egypt, and I have a keen interest for cardiology and safeguarding. I also have a passion for teaching clinical skills. I am proud to support our students on their journeys to become qualified nurses.

Professor of Nursing and Child Health
I am a Clinical-Academic Professor (and registered children's nurse) working at the University of Leicester and in the NHS. I am passionate about nursing leadership and research and support the development of knowledge and skills in these domains across our programmes.’

Having trained in the British Army, I have a keen focus on acute adult care and working in Critical Care. I also have a passion for medical simulation.

I am an experienced specialist children’s nurse and also a non-medical prescriber. I am the Year Lead for first year student nurses.

Rebecca Mummery

Lecturer in Adult Nursing
Having qualified in 2008 I spent the majority of my career in acute care settings. On completion of my PGCE I then spent some time in Clinical Education before returning to acute care nursing. As well as being a member of the Adult lecturing team, I am also the Placement Lead for clinical placements on the programme.

Hannah Richardson

Lecturer in Adult Nursing
As a lecturer I am committed to nurturing a supportive atmosphere, empowering student nurses to excel in patient care. I trained as an adult nurse and have a dedication for community healthcare. As the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion lead for the School of Healthcare, I advocate for an inclusive learning environment. I lead the first-year cohort, guiding their initial steps into the world of nursing. My mission is not only to impart knowledge but to ignite a passion for inclusive care and community well-being among future healthcare professionals.

I have been a nurse for over 20 years and love it! I have worked in a variety of clinical settings but specialised in ICU. I am passionate about supporting our students to become the nurse leaders of the future.

Dr Michelle Crick

Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing
As a trained mental health nurse, with a speciality in older persons’ mental health I have worked in the UK, New Zealand and in Canada, in clinical, academic, and quality improvement roles. I am proud to be working in a program which has a strong leadership focus.

Terry Simpson

Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing
I have been a mental health nurse for 26 years with a background in acute, crisis, emergency services, strategy and transformation. I am passionate about healthcare equality of services for mental health patients. I am proud to be empowering our future nurse leaders in compassion focused care.

Hannah Waterhouse

Lecturer in Adult Nursing
I am a heart failure nurse and educator dedicated to improving patient outcomes though increasing the application of evidence to clinical practice.

Sophie Steed

Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing
I am a registered Mental Health Nurse with a clinical background in Liaison Psychiatry services. I have a keen interest in the link between physical and mental health, living well with Dementia, and Mental Health Law. My teaching background is in Nursing and Medical Education. I am passionate about psychiatric simulation teaching, and feel privileged to work at the University of Leicester.
