About the Growth Hub

The University of Leicester Growth Hub brings together research and practical insight on responsible growth from the School of Business. It focuses on questions that shape long-term business performance, such as productivity and resilience, people and work, environmental impact, technology, governance and the conditions for sustainable growth. Our role is to develop and share useful evidence around these questions.

What we aim to do

The Growth Hub develops evidence, content and collaboration around responsible growth. Our aims are to:

• Make evidence easier to use: Translate world-leading research into content people can use, such as case studies, downloadable tools and briefings, GrowthCast episodes and event material.
• Inform policy and programme design: Use research and evidence to produce policy briefings, evidence reviews, consultation findings and evaluation for public bodies, sector organisations and policymakers.
• Connect the questions around responsible growth: Bring together research on strategy, productivity, AI and digital change, sustainability, finance, supply chains, work, leadership and governance, showing where the choices and trade-offs connect.
• Create focused collaborative work: Use relevant business, sector and policy questions to shape research, evaluation, funded projects and other collaborations where the Hub can add evidence and insight.

What responsible growth means

Responsible growth is not growth at any cost. It is growth that can perform commercially while remaining sustainable, resilient and well governed. The Hub brings together four connected areas of expertise: social and ethical responsibility; environmental sustainability; innovation, technology and resilience; and economic integrity and organisational governance.

These pose practical questions for businesses. How do you adopt AI while minimising risks? How do you improve productivity while creating career opportunities for your staff? How do you finance change, reduce environmental impact and strengthen trust in your business’ decision-making? The Growth Hub uses research, practical content, policy work and focused collaboration to explore questions like these.
