Centre for Fibrosis Research - Themes

Our research spans across three interlocking themes; Cohorts, Mechanisms and Therapeutics and diagnostics.

Theme 1: Cohorts

We work in partnership with patients directly and via large cohort studies across different organ domains – cardiovascular, respiratory, ophthalmology.

Theme 2: Mechanisms

The Centre brings together hypothesis-led experimental and multi-omic studies using leading-edge and interdisciplinary approaches to interrogate mechanisms underpinning common pathways of fibrosis and specific sub-types.

Theme 3: Therapeutics and diagnostics

Our investigators validate specific disease pathway targets, and working in partnership with the NIHR Leicester BRC, participate in clinical studies to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities to advance care in fibrotic diseases.
