Profile
As a PhD candidate in Museum Studies at the University of Leicester and a Visiting Researcher at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Erasmus University Rotterdam, I examine how museums in Taiwan, Kinmen, and China interpret difficult heritage to foster cultural understanding and dialogue. My research focuses on the politics of heritage interpretation, with particular attention to the power structures and discursive struggles embedded in curatorial practices across contested contexts in East Asia. With over ten years of experience in Taiwan’s museum and cultural heritage sectors—including serving as the director of the Kinmen Museum—I have curated exhibitions on war, memory, and community narratives, and developed cross-sector collaborations involving local stakeholders and international partners. I currently serve as Assistant Layout Editor for the academic journal Museum & Society. Alongside my academic work, I am the author of four books on museums and material culture, written in an accessible style that bridges scholarship and public engagement. I also cultivate a Chinese-speaking museum community, with a readership of over 100,000. My doctoral research is fully funded by the Taiwan Ministry of Education through the Taiwan Scholarship, and has additionally been supported by the Rosemary Deem Award for Social Science Doctoral Researchers and the UK’s Turing Scheme. I am passionate about creating inclusive and dialogic museum experiences that challenge dominant narratives and open up space for plural perspectives in divided contexts.
