Profile
Dr Yang Hu is a Lecturer in the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Leicester, having previously served as a Research Scientist at the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford. His research focuses on computational pathology, medical image analysis, and the development of lightweight and interpretable artificial intelligence methods. Prior to his postdoctoral work at Oxford, Dr Hu held a Research Associate position at the University of Southampton. He obtained his PhD in Computer Science from the South China University of Technology (China), where his doctoral research centred on adaptive neural network architectures and multimodal medical data integration. Dr Hu has (co-)authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals and conferences, including MICCAI, AAAI, ACM Multimedia, Medical Image Analysis (MedIA), IEEE Transactions on Multimedia (TMM), IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics (TCYB), IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics (JBHI), ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology (TIST), and Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AI in Med). He maintains active research collaborations across the UK and Europe, working with institutions such as the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, University of Southampton, University of Birmingham, University of Leeds, University of Bristol, University of Hamburg (Germany), and the University of Zurich (Switzerland). In addition, Dr Hu collaborates internationally with leading research organisations including the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), the National University of Singapore (NUS), and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in Singapore.
