I work in the SMILE-SXI team in the Planetary Science Group. SMILE-SXI is a soft X-ray telescope that will observe X-rays being emitted from the Earth's magnetosheath, a region outside the Earth's magnetopause where the solar wind interacts with the earth's magnetic field. It is due to launch in 2026. My work involves developing techniques to determine the magnetopause position from SMILE-SXI images. I also apply my knowledge of X-ray modelling to Jupiter.
