Dr Nadia Bousmina

Dr Nadia Bousmina is a Lecturer in Finance in the School of Accounting and Finance at the University of Leicester. She holds a PhD in Sustainable Banking and brings over ten years in the UK banking sector, across both retail and commercial, to her academic work. That frontline experience gives her research an unusually practical edge: it sits where sustainable finance, Islamic finance and financial technology (FinTech) meet, and examines how financial institutions can build ethical and technological innovation into genuinely sustainable practice rather than treat it as an afterthought. Her interests range across green and climate finance, responsible banking, and the part FinTech can play in widening access to sustainable investment. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Dr Bousmina is committed to research-led teaching that pairs analytical rigour with real-world insight, preparing students to move confidently between theory and practice. Her wider aim is to strengthen the relationship between academia and industry, and to help build financial systems that are more responsible, more resilient and better prepared for what comes next.
