Profile
Michael Portelli is a Lecturer in Pharmacy, with primary responsibilities in teaching the science themes of Biochemistry & Genetics; Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology; Infectious Diseases and Immunology within the MPharm degree. Having completed his pharmacy degree at the University of Malta in 2009, he completed a PhD in Therapeutics and Molecular Medicine (specialising in Respiratory Medicine) at the University of Nottingham in 2013. He has developed an extensive research portfolio in the molecular mechanisms of asthma and COPD and in pharmacogenetics, collaborating with home and international academic institutions as well as pharmaceutical companies such as AnaptysBio, GSK and Boehringer-Ingelheim. At Nottingham he led teaching of Respiratory Medicine and research projects for the school of Medicine.
