Profile
I am a Reader in Observational Astronomy, researching transiting extra-solar planets discovered by the Next Generation Transit Survey (NGTS) and NASA's TESS satellite. I also study white dwarf stars, and previously led direct imaging and transit searches for planets around white dwarfs. Today I concentrate on observing new transiting planets with ground-based telescopes. I supervise PhD students in this field, and teach astrophysics and physics courses at undergraduate level. I lead the Year 4 (Masters level) research project module, which runs throughout the final year of our MPhys degrees, and run a Year 3 research project utilising the University's Oadby Observatory to study transiting planets. I am also the Deputy Director of Research for the School, with particular responsibility for the School's REF submission.
