Profile
I am professor of cardiovascular medicine at the department of cardiovascular sciences and the BHF Cardiovascular Research Centre at Glenfield Hospital. My main research interest is in heart failure and coronary artery disease. I have over 230 publications in peer reviewed journals and have acted as UK national lead investigator for several international research trials including paradigm HF and the emeperor reduced and preserved studies. I was vice chair of the National Institute for Clinical Excellence Technology Appraisal Committee a for 10 years until 2018 and I am a current expert advisor to the NICE Covid Therapeutics Guidelines Committee.
Research
My main focus is in heart failure with work in the prognostic utility of circulating biomarkers in the biological response to inhibitors of the renin angiotensin aldosterone system and in sleep disordered breathing in heart failure. I have a developing interest in medication adherence in patients with advanced heart failure.
