Profile
David Wenzel is a PhD student at the University of Leicester, funded through the Midlands Mental Health and Neurosciences Doctoral Training Programme. His doctoral research investigates the experiences and impacts of dying while receiving non-invasive advanced respiratory support, using a triangulated approach that combines staff perspectives, family narratives, and ethnographic observation. David’s work bridges clinical practice and sociological inquiry within palliative care, with a particular focus on ethically complex decision-making in end-of-life settings. He also continues to work clinically in palliative and internal medicine with LOROS Hospice, maintaining a specialist interest in the management of terminal breathlessness and the role of non-invasive respiratory support in the dying process. David holds an undergraduate degree and a Master’s in Research Methodology from the University of Leicester.
