Profile
I am a research associate with the National Centre for Earth Observation at the University of Leicester. My research interests are focused on retrievals of variables from satellite data that help us better understand the carbon cycle.
I completed my PhD in Earth Observation Science at the University of Leicester in which I developed and implemented a retrieval algorithm for atmospheric CO2 from the GOSAT-2 satellite. My current research is on retrievals of solar-induced fluorescence (SIF), an emerging variable which is a useful proxy for photosynthetic activity. Measurements of SIF from space have the capacity to reduce key uncertainties in the carbon cycle related to gross primary productivity (GPP), as well as having broader applications in areas such as crop monitoring and drought prediction.
My primary research skills are in optimal estimation, radiative transfer, bias correction and validation of satellite data.
