Profile

Cheng Chou is an assistant professor of economics at the University of Leicester School of Business. His research interests include applied econometrics and quantitative marketing. In particular he is interested in inferring consumer preference using big data and economics theory when consumers face inter-temporal consumption trade-offs and uncertainties of market and in designing new products or service based on estimated preference. Prior to Leicester Cheng earned his PhD in economics from the University of Southern California and a MA from Peking University. He has publications in Marketing Science Journal of Applied Econometrics Economics Letters and Statistics and Probability Letters. Finally he is an avid gamer (ranked top 4.4% worldwide in the game Destiny 2).

Research

Supervision

I am interested in supervising the students who are interested in applied econometrics (dynamic discrete choice models in particular) and quantitative marketing (with the focus on freemium market and subscription business).

Teaching

I am teaching EC2011 Topics in Applied Econometrics (BA) and EC3062 Econometrics III (BSc).
