Leicestershire Law experts come together at University of Leicester event

The future president of the Law Society of England & Wales addressed legal experts from across the county at the University of Leicester on Monday (26th January).
Currently Vice President of the Law Society, Brett Dixon is a leading solicitor. Due to become President of the Law Society later this year, Brett Dixon is also a graduate from Leicester Law School.
Speakers also included disability rights advocate and Dragons Den participant, Simon Samsone as well as the President of the Leicestershire Law Society, Chimdinma Nwaigwe.
The Matrix Event also highlighted the work of the University of Leicester’s law clinic, which offers free legal advice to the general public. The Legal Advice Clinic aims to extend its services by providing inner-city drop-in centres.
Dr Vijay Sharma, Pro-Chancellor for Community Engagement at the University of Leicester, has organised the event. She said: “I am very pleased that the Law Society is holding its first Presidential Event of 2026 at the University.
“Events like this play a vital role in ensuring that we remain connected, we remain relevant, and we remain responsive and strive to open and raise awareness of the University’s areas of excellence.”
Laura Bee, Director and Supervising Solicitor of the Legal Advice Clinic at the University of Leicester, said: “It was a pleasure to speak about the work of the Legal Advice Clinic at the Matrix event.
“As President of the Leicestershire Law Society, Chimdi is making tangible efforts to support and platform law students studying in Leicester, and so it was a wonderful opportunity to welcome her and other local lawyers to the Law School to meet some of our students.”
