2024 Festival of Social Science returns to Leicester
The University of Leicester will host a series of events as part of the UK’s biggest celebration of social science research.
The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Festival of Social Science is an annual celebration of the importance and values of economics and social science.
The festival will run from Saturday, 19 October until Saturday 9 November.
Leicester will host a variety of free public events across the festival period.
The theme for this year’s festival is ‘our digital lives’ with many of the University’s events focusing on exploring the relationship between humans and digital technology
Events will include:
- Heath Bytes: Getting digitally fit. Tuesday 22 Oct; Tuesday 5 November; Wednesday 6th November (10:00 am - 12:00 pm)
- Winston Parva Revisited: A community restudy of established-outsider relations Saturday 26 October (10:00 am - 12:30 pm)
- Young People’s Law Reform Club: Protecting us in our digital life. Saturday 2 November 2024 (10:00 am - 3:30 pm)
- Criminology Film Season: Scrapper (12). Wednesday 6 November (7:00 pm - 9:30pm)
- What helps you cope when life is hard? A live drawing session with Dr Ozzy Ogbeide. Wednesday 6 November (7:00 pm- 7:30 pm – Online)
- Health Matters. An online physical activity session. Thursday 7 November (10:30 pm - 12:30 pm – Online)
- Migration City, Migration Cinema. A series of films to be shown over the festival period (dates to be confirmed)
