Individual Project
Module code: EG3005
The Individual Project is a major capstone experience of your degree, completed over two semesters. It provides the opportunity to investigate an open-ended engineering problem in depth, applying the full range of knowledge and skills developed throughout your studies. You will take ownership of a substantial engineering challenge, developing a structured project plan, managing your work independently, and engaging in regular supervision meetings. This reflects professional engineering practice, where engineers are expected to define problems, manage constraints, and deliver robust technical solutions.
Projects are undertaken within a framework of professional standards, including consideration of safety, ethics, and resource feasibility, ensuring alignment with real-world engineering requirements. The module develops advanced skills in technical analysis, problem-solving, project management, and communication. You will be assessed through progressive milestones, including interim reporting, a final technical report, and an oral presentation. Dedicated academic and technical support is provided throughout, including access to laboratory facilities, computing resources, library services, and specialist guidance where required.
