Signals and Systems

Module code: EG2232

This module introduces the fundamental principles of continuous-time and discrete-time signals and systems, covering key concepts such as amplitude, frequency, phase, and time-domain behaviour. Students will learn to analyse and model linear time-invariant systems using mathematical tools such as convolution, Fourier, Laplace, and Z-transforms.
There is a strong focus on practical application, using software tools (e.g. MATLAB) for tasks such as filtering, modulation, and system response.

Students will also collaborate in teams to address real-world engineering challenges in areas such as communications, image processing, and audio analysis, developing both technical and professional skills essential for modern engineering practice.
