In this module you will explore how people management contributes to organisational strategy and long-term success. You will examine the role of strategic human resource management in helping organisations respond to changing business environments, develop competitive advantage and achieve sustainable organisational performance.
Drawing on contemporary theories and research, you will critically evaluate the relationship between organisational strategy and HR strategy, considering how internal and external factors influence strategic decision-making. You will explore the drivers of organisational change, assess how organisations respond to changing economic, technological and social conditions, and examine how people practices can support the successful implementation of strategic objectives.
Throughout the module, you will develop the knowledge and analytical skills to evaluate strategic HR decisions in complex organisational contexts. You will consider how HR policies and practices should align with organisational values, legal requirements and business priorities, enabling you to assess how effective people management can support organisational performance while creating positive outcomes for employees and other stakeholders.
