Equality and Diversity
Module code: MN2515
In this module you will explore one of the most important and thought-provoking challenges facing contemporary organisations: how to create workplaces that are fair, inclusive and enable everyone to fulfil their potential. You will examine why inequalities persist in the labour market despite decades of legislation and organisational initiatives, and consider the implications for employees, organisations and society.
Drawing on sociological, psychological, historical and legal perspectives, you will investigate the factors that influence equality, diversity and inclusion at work. You will critically evaluate the different approaches organisations adopt to promote equality and manage diversity, considering both their successes and their limitations, alongside the debates that continue to shape policy, legislation and professional practice.
Throughout the module, you will develop an understanding of the diverse experiences and perspectives that people bring to the workplace, recognising how these can influence behaviour, relationships and organisational outcomes. Using contemporary research and real-world examples, you will explore how HR professionals and managers can help create fairer and more inclusive working environments, while developing the analytical skills to evaluate equality and diversity initiatives in organisational practice.
