Module code: MN2513
In this module you will explore how workplace learning and development contribute to individual, organisational and national success. You will examine why organisations invest in developing their people and consider the role that learning plays in improving performance, supporting career development and responding to changing business needs.
You will investigate a range of approaches to workplace learning and development, exploring how employees acquire knowledge and skills through both formal and informal learning. Drawing on established theories of learning and development, you will evaluate how organisations design, deliver and assess learning initiatives, and consider the role of HR professionals in creating opportunities for continuous learning.
The module also examines the wider economic and international context of workforce development, including the importance of vocational skills and the challenges associated with developing and retaining talent in a global labour market. Through the study of contemporary research and practical examples, you will develop the knowledge and analytical skills to evaluate learning and development practices and understand their contribution to organisational success.
