Collecting and Analysing Data
Module code: MN2152
This module is your hands-on introduction to the data that drives business insight. You'll be provided with the tools and techniques used to collect both qualitative and quantitative data and learn how to piece them together meaningfully. From surveys and interviews to datasets and analytics, you'll develop the skills to turn raw information into persuasive evidence.
Through real-world case studies and applied workshops, you'll gain confidence in managing the research process from start to finish, including designing your own small-scale research project. Whether you are preparing for a dissertation, consultancy project or data-driven role in industry, this module will give you the analytical mindset to address uncertainty and complexity in the organisations you aspire to work for or even aim to build.
By the end of this module, you will be able to define and explain the key theoretical and practical foundations of social science research. You will also develop the skills to identify, synthesis and critically engage with the relevant academic literature in your chosen research area. You will be equipped to evaluate and select suitable research designs and methodological approaches, and to apply an appropriate analytical framework to interpret data and generate meaningful research insights. This module works as an important foundation for your dissertation module in your final year.
