Project (Marketing)
Module code: MK3205
The project module gives you the chance to work like a marketing consultant on a real business challenge. Rather than starting from an open topic of personal interest, you will identify a genuine issue facing an organisation, business or industry, and build a piece of research that leads to practical, evidence-based recommendations.
This module suits students who want to demonstrate how they think under real-world constraints. You will diagnose a marketing problem, design a research approach that could involve primary data collection such as surveys, or secondary analysis of existing datasets and documents, and use your findings to develop solutions that a business could realistically act on. This makes the project particularly valuable if you are aiming for a career in consultancy, brand management, marketing strategy or any role where you will need to translate evidence into decisions.
As with the dissertation, you will not be doing this alone. Your supervisor will support you as you scope the issue, agree your research design and work through your analysis. The process asks you to think critically, justify your choices and defend your conclusions with evidence rather than opinion. By the end of the project, you will have produced a substantial piece of applied research that shows you can take a real organisational problem, investigate it properly and communicate a credible set of recommendations.
