Global Supply Chain Management

In this module you will explore the issues of coordinating global flows of goods, services, and information.  You will examine how supply chains create value and competitive advantage.  The strategic importance of logistics and procurement is emphasised.  Global interconnectivity and complexity are key themes.

You will be guided through the theories and concepts associated with supply chain integration, supplier relationship management, and inventory control.  You will explore lean systems, just-in-time processes, and digital tracking technologies.  Risk and disruption management are examined.  Sustainability considerations are embedded throughout.

You will be helped to understand how operational efficiency contributes to strategic success.  You will develop analytical skills to evaluate supply chain performance.  Case studies illustrate global best practice and operational challenges.  Data-driven decision-making is introduced in supply chain contexts.

You will consider ethical sourcing, environmental sustainability, and resilience in international networks.  The impact of geopolitical change and technological innovation is explored.  You will assess trade-offs between cost, speed, and flexibility.  By the end, you will appreciate the strategic role of global supply chains in international business.
