Translational Genomics in Precision Health

Module code: MD7611

Keep up-to-date with the current state-of-the art PCR and sequencing technologies incorporating qPCR, next generation sequencing (NGS), circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) analysis, genome wide association studies (GWAS) and single cell sequencing advances through Oxford Nanopore Technology (ONT) used for disease screening and cutting-edge research driving early detection programmes.

Scrutinising gene editing techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9 will ensure students understand the transition between bench science and delivery of real-world clinical outcomes. There will be an emphasis on understanding the utility for all these technologies in precision health approaches to disease in terms of detection, prevention, prognostication and as the drivers for novel interventional strategies.
