Mathematics and AI Project

Module code: MA3582

This module aims to teach the skills necessary for independent research in the area of mathematics with the focus on the theory and/or application of Artificial Intelligent systems to real-world problems. This may involve learning a topic in modern mathematics of AI systems guided by a supervisor and finding interesting problems in the area and working towards solving them or developing a specific AI system addressing a certain practical need. The supervisor will assist in finding a problem of suitable complexity. It is expected that the Mathematics and AI project should either be focussed on mathematical challenges of AI systems or, in case of problem-driven projects, should contain a significant software development element and involve a relevant business partner. The School will provide contacts and lists to business partners. Students are encouraged to build these links further in the course of the project.
