This module covers journalistic engagement with biodiversity loss, intensifying climate change, urban sustainability pressures, and other environmental issues vital to democratic publics. The complexity and vast scales of these issues pose unique challenges for reporters, who need the knowledge and skills to cover environmental topics in substantial ways. From the Green movement of the 1960s and 1970s to today's net-zero emissions goals, journalism continues to play a vital role in facilitating public engagement with urgent environmental problems.
