The advent of digital cinema has advanced and challenged film theory. This module will recognise that, although digital cinema can be understood in some ways as little more than a new technology for creating films, recent theories of digital cinema demonstrate astonishing revelations about the forms, functions, conventions, ideologies, theories, and filmmaking practices that digital cinema makes possible.

This module will give you the opportunity to examine these ramifications through practice with the creation of a video essay that stages, articulates, and thematically integrates the ideas you wish to explore and express.
