Arts Journalism

In this module, we’ll explore the links between English and the world of creative arts. From exhibitions to performances, from the cinema screen to the canvas, writing can communicate the experience of art in vivid and evocative ways. This module both introduces you to the rich variety of journalistic writing and invites you to pursue your own interests in writing and the arts.

In our seminars, we will read and discuss examples of arts journalism as well as workshopping our own writing to hone skills and to think about important issues such as considering your audience, the features of particular genres, and how to structure a journalistic piece effectively. We will have guest talks from a range of experts on aspects of journalism and the arts.
