Advanced Solid Mechanics

Module code: EG4116

This module will give you theoretical knowledge in Solid Mechanics and practical skills to apply advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to calculate the stresses in complex structures, and predict whether these structures will fail under loads they experience in service. The module extends the analysis covered in earlier years of the course using more advanced theories of deformation and failure, thus improving design skills. It will also introduce Multiphysics to teach you how FEA methods could be applied to a wider range of engineering problems involving mechanics.
