Advanced Biomedical Signal Processing

Module code: EG4061

There are a range of diagnostic tools that can be applied to measure biomedical signals. These include electrocardiograms (ECG) to measure the heart cycle or electroencephalograms (EEG) to measure the electrical activity of the brain. It is only with the processing of these signals that a diagnosis can be best carried out. This module focuses on the principles of signal processing techniques when applied specifically to biomedical signals. It will discuss both real-time and offline analysis methods, and you will apply methodologies using both hardware and software platforms. Throughout these practical exercises, you will develop, test, and troubleshoot complex electrical systems and embedded control systems. You will implement standard engineering design processes to build robust filtering algorithms, manage technical project delivery, and author comprehensive technical documentation to ensure compliance with medical software standards.
