Intermediate Macroeconomics
Module code: EC2046
This module provides a rigorous, model-based exploration of modern macroeconomic theory and its applications to real-world policy problems. Moving beyond the intuitive concepts of introductory macroeconomics, you will develop formal analytical frameworks to investigate how the aggregate economy functions in the short run and medium run.
Through mathematical manipulations and graphical models, the module explores the micro-foundations behind labour-market conditions, consumption-saving choices, investment decisions, and inflation. Special attention is dedicated to evaluating the mechanisms and trade-offs of fiscal and monetary policy interventions designed to stabilise national economies during business cycles.
