This engaging module develops and challenges students’ observational skills. It advances their ability to "read a fire scene" by identifying and analysing burn patterns, smoke staining and other fire damage, before relating the evidence available to the science of fire development and spread to establish a credible working hypothesis of the cause and origin of a fire. Exposure to modern techniques will develop your problem-solving skills and enhance your insight into contemporary practice. Peer group learning is enhanced through an online Discussion Board. The module is assessed through application of your investigative skills to two case studies.
