Dissertation
Module code: AF7503
This module develops advanced skills in independent research, critical analysis and academic argumentation through the completion of a self-defined research project. You will engage with relevant academic literature, apply appropriate research methodologies, and integrate theoretical and empirical insights to address a substantive research question. The module emphasises the development of advanced research competencies, including problem formulation, methodological design, data collection and analysis, and the presentation of coherent, evidence-based conclusions.
You are supported through a combination of structured guidance and independent study. Asynchronous lectures provide foundational insights into advanced research practices, dissertation structure and effective academic writing, whilst synchronous seminars enable interactive discussion, peer learning, and targeted guidance on research design and methodology. Regular one-to-one supervision sessions offer tailored feedback, critical appraisal of progress and discussion of draft chapters.
