Translating Different Genres

Different genres use differing generic structures, language features and registers, and are intended for different audiences. Therefore, different genres need to be handled differently in a translation. In this module, you will learn how to translate genres (such as a poem, a short story or a play), employing strategies and techniques appropriately and effectively. You will also broaden your knowledge on the study of translation and genre by critically reflecting on and engaging with the scholarship on translation practice relevant to the genre.
