Translation means much more than transferring from one language into another. It is closely linked with many other areas such as philosophy, history and geopolitics. In this module, we will gain familiarity with the concepts and issues at the forefront of the academic discipline of translation studies, and where appropriate, propose new hypotheses. We will also evaluate and critique methodologies, proposing new methodologies where appropriate. This module will be taught in a combination of lectures and seminars, giving you ample opportunities to discuss current concepts, topics and issues in the field. You will be assessed via summative essays.
