The Development of Translation Studies

Translation has played an important role in the development of human history and civilisation, and its importance is growing in a world that is becoming more and more connected. In this module, we will explore historically how the study of translation as a formal academic subject developed up till the early 21st century. We will look at the key issues in the discipline as well as reflect upon existing scholarship critically whilst demonstrating independent engagement. You will be taught through a combination of lectures and seminars and will be assessed via a summative essay.
