Applied and Medical Physics
Module code: PA3601
This module will build on your knowledge in speciality physics by exploring applied physics further. We will consider key techniques in modern medical physics, from ultrasound imaging to single photon and positron tomography, and radionuclide imaging. We will then investigate the underlying principles, analysis techniques and implications for patients. Fundamental properties of materials including topics such as magnetic materials and their performance in technological applications from medicine and information storage will be further explored.
Topics covered
- Medical physics including topics such as ultrasound imaging, positron tomography and radionuclide imaging
- Materials physics including topics such as magnetic materials and their performance in medical applications and information storage technologies
