Pharmacology and Medicines Prescribing Applied to Nursing Practice

In this module you will critically reflect on the legislative and regulatory frameworks that govern medicinal products in the UK, including national and local policies and guidelines. You will obtain an understanding of the pharmacology of specific medicinal products as applied to nursing as well as demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the actions, interactions and reactions of medicinal products within the complexity of a nursing practice. We will also explore how to critically appraise the contemporary information sources/advice relating to treatment options and make appropriate judgements in partnership with the patient/service user.

This module will be taught through a varied selection of lectures, seminars and workshops, problem based, case studies, online activities and flipped learning.
