International HRM

International HRM explores the issue of managing people across cultures and international boundaries.  You will examine global staffing strategies and expatriate management and a central theme is cultural intelligence.  Throughout the module the complexity of multinational workforce management is emphasised.

You will study the theories and concepts associated with cross-cultural management, global talent strategy, and comparative HR systems.  You will analyse institutional and cultural influences on HR practice and explore diversity and inclusion in this global context.

You will understand the challenges facing multinational enterprises in managing global talent, and develop analytical skills to evaluate international HR policies.  Integrated in the module are ethical and legal dimensions and the use of case studies reinforce applied understanding.

In the module you will consider how global mobility and digitalisation affect workforce strategy, and examine localisation versus standardisation debates.  The future of global talent management is discussed.  By completion of the module you will appreciate HRMs role in international competitiveness.
