Understanding International Business explores the issues of globalisation, cross-border trade, and multinational enterprise operations.  You will examine the forces shaping international economic integration.  Institutional and cultural diversity are key themes and the module highlights the complexity in global business environments.

You will be guided through the theories and concepts associated with trade theory, foreign direct investment, and internationalisation strategies.  You will analyse multinational corporations and global value chains and discuss institutional frameworks and regulatory systems.  Comparative analysis across countries is encouraged.

This module helps you to interpret international business environments and assess market opportunities.  You will develop analytical skills to evaluate global risk and competitiveness.  Case studies are used within the module to support applied understanding and critical reflection on ethical global business practice is embedded.

You will consider how geopolitical change and economic shifts affect multinational strategy and examine sustainability in global operations.  The role of emerging markets is explored.  By completion of the module you will understand the strategic dynamics of international business.
