Mathematics Research Project
Module code: MA3516 (double module)
The work on this module occupies both semesters and culminates in the submission of a dissertation. Working as part of a small group, and under the direction of their project supervisor, the purpose of the Mathematics Research Project is to combine skills acquired in other modules in the production of a project. You will be required to take a topic in mathematics (determined by the project supervisor) and to assimilate and communicate the ideas, through written reports and oral presentation, and to demonstrate the ability to pursue an extended period of study. During the first semester, working in groups, you will produce a preliminary report, demonstrating progress to date. During the second semester, you will give a group-linked presentation. Each student will also complete the project work by pursuing further directions and submit an individual dissertation.
