Statistical Distributions and Inference
Module code: MA2403
Statistics is the branch of mathematics that is used in the study of data, trends and uncertainties and is a fundamental aspect of data analysis for empirical scientists, mathematicians and engineers. Statistics is used by economists as a tool to collect, analyse and interpret data relating to how different choices impact society, and by medical research to analyse the effectiveness of drugs in clinical trials.
This module will present the techniques to carry out statistical analyses, how to draw inferences from the data and the essential features of statistical distributions - mathematical expression that gives you the likelihood of different outcomes in experiments or real-world situations.
