Commercial Law

Module code: LW2002

Commercial operations are at the very core of many businesses and do not always run smoothly.  Goods get damaged, don't arrive or are not as expected.  Services provided are sometimes inadequate.  Laws provide some solutions to these problems.

This module continues your studies on the regulation of contractual relationships by focusing on sale of goods contracts under the law in England and Wales in business-to-consumer and business-to-business transactions.

You will learn how to advise a business about the implications of a breach of contract and consider how to resolve problems where goods or services are not of the quality expected by the purchaser or do not live up to the marketing message that led to the transaction being concluded in the first place.

You will also discover the key terms and practices in transactions involving international transport of goods through international distribution networks and the methods used to pay for such goods.  The goods are not paid for, do not arrive or do not arrive as expected.
