Dissertation (History)
Module code: HS3505 / HS3506
The dissertation is an extended piece of historical research on an appropriate topic, chosen following consultation with a member of staff. It will be substantially based upon research into primary material, whether first-hand consultations in the archives or the use of published primary texts. This study involves the design and development of a research project, a sustained period of independent research/inquiry and the critical reading and assessment of a range of relevant historical texts. You’ll reach mastery of appropriate primary and secondary sources and the formal written presentation of research findings and analysis in the form of a dissertation.
