Geographical Visualisation

Module code: GY7704

This module has been re-designed to introduce you not only to the theories of geographic visualisation, but also practical elements to support your learning. You will cover fundamental issues such as the nature of visual variables, map generalisation, web mapping, 3D visualisation, and virtual and augmented realities. Amongst other things, you will learn how to use Esri’s ArcMap Online product to build storymaps using qualitative and quantitative data, the programming side to visualisation using the R language and how to create visualisations for our Oculus Rift virtual reality headset that links with our large screen virtual reality laboratory. Assessment will be by essay and individual visualisation project.
