Environmental Geoscience

Human activity has had an unprecedented impact on the Earth. We have modified - and continue to modify - our planet. In this module, you'll explore the role of a geoscientist in monitoring, measuring and mitigating the effects of humans on the world. 

You'll examine the environment in both natural and highly modified states, and consider important concepts in applied and academic environmental geoscience, including toxicology, epidemiology, source-pathway-receptor models, sustainability, and data analysis. Whilst you will focus on the geological aspects of the environment in this module, you'll also look at aspects of chemistry, biology, physics, medicine, geography, sociology and economics. 

This module will provide you with an important foundation for many careers in applied geoscience. It is delivered through a mix of lectures, discussion sessions, computer-based practicals, and independent learning.
